Who Are We?
About The Happy Lawyer – Estate Planning, Elder Law & Probate Services
A Different Kind of Law Firm
At The Happy Lawyer, we believe estate planning should be about more than just documents—it should be about protecting your family, ensuring your wishes are honored, and giving you true peace of mind. Unlike other estate planning law firms that treat estate planning as a one-time transaction, I take a relationship-driven approach to guide you through life’s changes and ensure your plan works when it matters most.
There is a reason I am called the Happy Lawyer. And no, I did not come up with that name myself. Through networking, people just begin referring to me as the Happy Lawyer because I am always smiling. I love what I do is so that makes the smiling that much easier.
I’m not afraid to be different and that’s why my services are so different. I have a cartoon logo. I serve homemade cookies, homemade baked mini loaves of bread to clients. I even, gasp, want to get to know my clients as real people - not just clients.
Why I’m Different
I want to build a relationship with you. I want to learn about you and who you are - what your story is and what is important to you. That’s why I schedule enough time between appointments so that you will not feel rushed.
Unlike other attorneys, I am not going to rush you through the process. I am going to take the time to get to know you and make sure you understand the process and documents. I believe in not only going through the wording of the documents but also creating power points and diagrams that explain the documents and process in easier, and sometimes more entertaining, ways. I’m a creative after all!
I do not want you to experience a process that is overly complicated, impersonal, and frustrating. Just because we have to talk about dark subjects such as death, dying and disability doesn’t mean we can’t do it with a smile and maybe a laugh or two. Need to cry? Don’t worry, I have Kleenex for that as well!
I’m a child of a caregiver and the daughter of a father disabled from a stroke. I know all too well how important it is to have the right documents in place. And, I understand how frustrating it can be as we age when people discount us or try to rush us through things. That’s why when you sit down with me, I have homemade cookies at the table. So, we can relax and take our time getting to know one another.
Garner Estate Planning That Prepares You for Life
I don’t want to just create documents for you. I want to help you:
make sure your assets are titled correctly;
ensure your loved ones know what assets you have and where they are located;
if you have a trust, that it is funded;
your heirs will be able to inherit no matter what state or age they may be when that time comes;
build out several layers in your plan so that no matter what happens later on, we already have a plan in place for that;
know your minor children won’t end up in foster care or with children’s services if something happens to you;
make sure you loved ones are not left with a mess when you die;
help your loved ones grieve when you die through step by step instructions left by you.
I do this through a holistic approach to estate planning. I want to make sure you have peace of mind and that your loved ones will, too, when you die.

Your family’s most valuable inheritance isn’t just financial wealth—it’s your stories, experiences, and the lessons you’ve learned. That’s why I don’t create cookie cutter estate plans designed for everyone. I want to help you create a lasting legacy so that your plan will grow with you as you age, your marital status changes or your health changes.
